Since 2011, from Portugal to the world.

The LUSOFLY brand was born in 2011 with the aim of fostering aerospace knowledge among the sector’s enthusiasts. It emerged as a result of a project of an aeromodelling club from Tomar: the Youth Club Os Aerocalminhas, which since 1987 has inspired several young people in the discovery of a future career path, in the aerospace sector.
Over the years, several activities have been developed, such as aeromodelling, virtual flight, spotting and presentations, connecting young people from all over the world. Identifying the growing need to train pilots
to train pilots and because we believe that we can bring an added value to the aviation sector, our multidisciplinary team, composed of professionals from various areas of aerospace, decided to bet on the development of a new project with the creation of LUSOFLY Academy. With this decision we give continuity to the initial project, contributing to the aeronautical culture and training professionals
professionals of excellence in the aviation sector, making us a reference in training.

We carefully observe the current reality and collect feedback in order to identify areas of improvement for our operation. We promote a sustainable future and value the assertiveness and professionalism of our team. More than a reference that we wish to become, we assure our commitment of providing our student pilots the adequate and required tools for their training. Why Bragança?

An air route to the world

Located in Bragança, in the north of Portugal, the conditions offered to students are the best in both theoretical and practical terms. Theoretical training will be taught at Brigantia Eco-Park where you will find very well-equipped classrooms and adequate spaces to foster the aeronautical spirit among students. At the aerodrome, student pilots will take advantage of the regions good weather conditions and modern infrastructure with all the technology needed to prepare for everything from the shortest flights, in a free and unrestricted airspace, to the most complex flights that take you within the airspace of 7 international airports that surround Bragança.

More than 40,000 flight hours combined flying all over the world in different types of operations and coming from different areas of the sector, LUSOFLY Academy instructors have acquired valuable experience and knowledge that they will pass onto students, helping them prepare to face the increasing demands of the pilot profession where, in addition to technical skills, the human component is also a requirement.

FlightLogger

To help organize and correctly monitor student progress, LUSOFLY Academy uses several digital tools. Flight Logger allows us to manage our students, instructors and fleet more efficiently while at the same time being more eco-friendly.

João Roque Santos
Pilot Airline Transport Commander

He was an Air Traffic Controller in FAP, an Instructor (TRI) in the A320 fleet and in the "Ganhar Asas" Programme in TAP. He was also co-founder of the Youth Club Os Aerocalminhas de Tomar and of the Lusofly Group. He is a founding partner of LUSOFLY Academy where he is Head of Training and a flight and theory instructor.

Paulo Palma

Accountable Manager

Degree in Law and training in Aeronautical Legislation, sector management in Safety/Compliance. Has a background of 30 years of experience in business management. He is a founding partner of LUSOFLY Academy where he is Accountable Manager.

Desempenhou a função de Controlador de Tráfego Aéreo na FAP, de Instrutor (TRI) na frota A320 e no Programa Ganhar Asas na TAP. Foi ainda co-fundador do Clube de Jovens Os Aerocalminhas de Tomar e do Grupo Lusofly. É sócio fundador da LUSOFLY Academy onde desempenha as funções de “Head of Training” e de instrutor de voo e de teoria.

Licenciado em Direito e com formação em Legislação Aeronáutica, gestão setorial em Safety/Compliance. Tem um passado de 30 anos de experiência na gestão empresarial. É sócio fundador da LUSOFLY Academy onde desempenha a função de “Accountable Manager”.

Chief Flight Instructor Pilot

Chief Flight Instructor Pilot with more than 5000 hours of flight instruction; Total hours flown: + 5600; Extensive experience in teaching flight instruction for 13 years. He was responsible for standardizing an international academy and now holds the position of CFI in our Academy.

António Braz

More than 30 years of experience in the aviation world having worked as Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic and Flight Engineer for FAP in civil aviation and also as technical instructor in international aviation companies. At LUSOFLY Academy he is the director of theoretical instruction "CTKI" besides being a theoretical instructor.

José Nogueira

FAP Navigator Colonel - Possessing a broad education in several areas of military life and with a vast aeronautical experience in leadership and instruction functions, having performed among others, the functions of Navigator in the P3 Orion and E-3rd AWACS, of command and leadership, including in strictly military missions in real context.

André Giron Bernaud

Commercial Pilot, ICAO flight and theory instructor, EASA theory instructor. Graduated and Post-Graduated in Architecture, Graphic and Product Designer, he was University Professor for 19 years, in the areas of Design, Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Miguel Formoso

Airline Transport Pilot. Besides his function as pilot-in-command in several aircraft, he was also an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic, having accumulated more than 20 years of aeronautical experience.

Sérgio Mota

Nurse, Specialist in Rehabilitation Nursing and with differentiated Added Competence in Clinical Supervision. Working in the Intensive Care Medicine Service in ULSNE- Bragança Hospital Unit.

A perfect destination Braganqa has an airfield with one of the longest runways in Portugal and is also equipped for flying at night. It is surrounded by 7 well-equipped international airports and has a large area of unrestricted airspace, with a great potential for expanding and fostering the aeronautical spirit among pilot students and the entire community.
